RESOLUTION NO. 3357
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO
GRANDE AUTHORIZING THE SALE AND USE OF SAFE AND SANE
FIREWORKS FOR NEW YEAR'S EVE 1999
WHEREAS, the State of California has authorized a millennial celebration for the year
2000; and
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 2090 (Chapter 363 of the Statutes of 1998) authorizes the
sale of certified safe and sane fireworks from 9:00 a.m. on December 26, 1999 through
midnight of January 1, 2000, if authorized by a city, county, or city and county
ordinance, or resolution; and
WHEREAS, fireworks shall only be distributed at City approved, pre-designated
locations, under the direction of licensed wholesale fireworks distributors, from 9:00
a.m. December 26, 1999 through 9 p.m. December 31, 1999.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Arroyo
Grande does hereby find and declare that, based on all of the foregoing, it is in the best
interest of the City of Arroyo Grande to authorize the sale of safe and sane fireworks for
the period from 9:00 a.m. December 26, 1999 through 9:00 p.m. December 31, 1999.
Additionally, safe and sane fireworks may be used within the City on December 31,
1999. - -
On motion of Council Member Runels, seconded by Council Member Tolley, and on the
following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES:" Council Members Runels, Tolley, Dickens, Ferrara, and Mayor Lady
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 27th day of April, 1999.'
