A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARROYO GRANDE DIRECTING SOUTH COUNTY
SANITARY SERVICE TO WAIVE FOOD WASTE
RECYCLING FEES FOR NON-PROFIT EVENTS
WHEREAS, on November 12, 1997, the City entered into a franchise agreement with
South County Sanitary Service, Inc. (SCSS) for collection, diversion and disposal of
solid waste; and
WHEREAS, on August 24, 1999, the City also entered into a franchise agreement with
SCSS for recycling services; and
WHEREAS, on June 10, 2008, the City Council extended the franchise agreement for a
15-year period; and
WHEREAS, fees for recycling of food waste for non-profit events have a detrimental
effect on community clean-up and recycling goals; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to waive food waste recycling fees for non-profit
events.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Arroyo
Grande hereby directs South County Sanitary Service, Inc. to waive food waste
recycling fees for non-profit events.
On motion of Council Member Brown, seconded by Council Member Guthrie, and on
the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Brown, Guthrie, Costello, and Mayor Ferrara
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 8`" day of October 2013.
