nESOLUTION NO. 2996
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE ESTABLISHING PARKING
PENALTIES AND A PENALTY FOR LATE PAYMENT
WHEREAS, changes in the california Vehicle Code, beginning
with Section 40200, have deoriminalized ~ll parking violations/ and
WHEREAS, as a result of those ohanges, the city Counoil of the
city of Arroyo Grande now deems it necessary to establish penalties
for parking violations listed in both the Arroyo Grande Municipal
Code and the California Vehicle Code, and
WHEREAS, the penalties listed in Items 1 through 11 in th~
attached Exhibit "A" have been adapted directly from the current
San Luis Obispo County Municipal Court bail schedule that has been
the standard for parking fines county-wide, and
WHEREAS, the City Council also finds it prudent to establish
a penalty for late payment in order-to encourage prompt payment of
penalties resulting from parking violations I and
WHEREAS, the 50 percent late penalty listed in Item 12 of
Exhibit "AM is based on discussions with representatives from other
local parking enforcement agencies, is believed to be reasonable
and should encourage prompt payment of the original penalty.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the city council of the
city of Arroyo Grande hereby adopts the parking penalties and late
payment penalty as listed on the attached Exhibit "A." -
On motion of Council Member Burke , seoonded by
Council Member Moots , and on the following roll call
