RESOLUTION NO. 298 1
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE RECOGNIZING
SERGEANT RICHARD CLEAVER AS THE
1993 OFFICER OF THE YEAR
WHEREAS, the Arroyo Grande Police Department annually selects a mF"nb"r of its
force to be recognized as the Police Officer of the Year; and
WHEREAS, no higher honor can be received than the honor of one's peer~ 'N;I.h;n the
Police Profession for distinguished service; and
WHEREAS, the Arroyo Grande Police Officer of the Year Award for 1993 hils been
bestowed upon Sergeant Richard Cleaver, as the Officer most distinguished within the Arroyo
Grande Police Department because of his outstanding service to the community, his exemplary
professionalism, and his service and accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Cleaver has consistentiy received the praise and commendations
from not only his peers, but the community atiarge, as well as during his 21 years with the
Department; and
WHEREAS. Sergeant Cleaver is recognized by many police officers for his in-depth
knowledge of police operations and his common sense approach to problem-solving and in
that, he has voluntarily assumed the responsibilities of the Department's Chief Rangemaster
and Armorer.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande,
in its regular session assembled this 11th day of May, 1993, that it hereby extends to Sergeant
Cleaver its highest commendation for the exceptional quality of his work and for the In-
spiring stature of his demeanor.
On motion of Council Member Brandy , seconded by Council Member Burke,
and on the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Brandy, Burke and Mayor Gallagher
NOES: None
ABSENT:Council Members Moots and Souza
, the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 11th day of May, 1993.
