RESOLUTION NO. 2947
A RESOLUTION OF TilE CITY COUNCIL OF TilE CITY
OF ARROYO GRANDE SUPPORTING PROPOSITION 116
FUNDING OF BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN ROUTES;
PAULDING MIDDLE SCHOOL PROJECT AND ARROYO
GRANDE HIGH SCHOOL/MARGARET HARLOE
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROJECT.
WHEREAS, in June 1990, California Voters passed Proposition 116, the Rail
Transportation Bond Act, which allocated $10.1 million to San Luis Obispo County; and
WHEREAS, qualifying programs under Proposition 116 include bicycle projects to
-- improve safety and convenience to bicycle commuters, and pedestrian improvements to facilitate
pedestrian commuter travel; and
WHEREAS, there are children and staff members commuting to the Paulding Middle
School, Arroyo Grande High School and Margaret Harloe Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the Paulding Middle School project and the
Arroyo Grande High School and Margaret Harloe Elementary School project; and
WHEREAS, bicycle and pedestrian improvements are needed to provide safe and
convenient routes; and
WHEREAS, there is community support to provide safe bicycle and pedestrian access
for the children and citizens of Arroyo Grande;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Arroyo
Grande approves the Paulding Middle School project and the Arroyo Grande High
School/Margaret Harloe Middle School project and supports the application to provide
Proposition 116 funds for the two projects.
On motion of Council Member Dougal\ seconded by Council Member Gallagher, and on
the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Dougall, Gallagher, Smith and Mayor Millis
NOES: None
ABSENT: Council Member Moots
the foregoing Resolution was adopted this 25th day of August, 1992.
