ORDINANCE NO. 463 C.S.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE AMENDING MUNICIPAL CODE
TITLE 5, CHAPTER 10 REGARDING LIABILITY INSURANCE
FOR TAXICABS OPERATED WITHIN THE CITY
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTIQ~ 1: section 5-10-12(a) is hereby amended to read as
follows:
Sec. 5-10-12 (a) . pUblic Liability.
(a) It shall be unlawful for any owner or operator to drive
or operate a taxicab or cause a taxicab to be driven or operated
" J in the city, and no license for the operation thereof shall be
~/ granted, unless and until there is on file with the City clerk,
and in full force and effect at all times while such taxicab is
being operated, a certificate of a policy of insurance, approved
by the City Attorney, with a solvent and responsible company
authorized to do business in the State, insuring the owner of
such taxicab (giving the manufacture number and State license
number) against loss by reason of injury or damage that may
result to persons or property from the negligent operation or
defective construction of such taxicab, or for any other cause.
Such policy shall have policy limits of not less than Five
Hundred Thousand and nO/lOOths ($500,000.00) Dollars for the
injury or death of one person, and One Million and no/100ths
($1,000,000.00) dollars for the injury of two (2) or more persons
in the same accident, and One Hundred Thousand and no/100ths
($100,000.00) Dollars for injury or destruction of property.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall become effective thirty
(30) days after the date of its adoption, and within fifteen (15)
days after its adoption, it shall be published once, together
with the names of the Council Members voting thereon, in a
newspaper of general circulation within the city.
On motion of Council Member Souza, seconded by Council
Member Brandy, and on the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Souza, Brandy, Lady, Burke and Mayor Gallagher
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
the foregoing ordinance was passed and adopted this 26th day of
April, 1994.
