R 4680 RESOLUTION NO. 4680 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE OPPOSING SENATE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 5 WHEREAS, the Central Coast Taxpayers (CCTA) have informed the Arroyo Grande City Council about Senate Constitutional Amendment 5 (SCA 5); and WHEREAS, the CCTA has requested that the Arroyo Grande City Council pass a resolution opposing SCA 5; and WHEREAS, SCA 5 is described as the "split roll" tax proposal that would be established and commenced in Fiscal Year 2018-19; and WHEREAS, SCA 5 is considered to undermine and dismantle Proposition 13 by proposing commercial property taxes be assessed annually; and WHEREAS, SCA 5, the "split roll" tax proposal, would have a devastating impact on small businesses in Arroyo Grande, in the State, as well as families and individuals who are already struggling with the high cost of living. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande herby opposes Senate Constitutional Amendment 5. On motion of Council Member Barneich, seconded by Council Member Guthrie, and on the following roll call vote, to wit: AYES: Council Members Barneich, Guthrie, Brown, Harmon, and Mayor Hill NOES: None - ABSENT: None the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 25th day of August, 2015.
