RESOLUTION NO. 2471
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARROYO GRANDE DECLARING SATURDAY, AUGUST 3, 1991
A DAY OF RECOGNITION IN SUPPORT OF VETERANS AND THE
TROOPS AND THEIR FAMILIES PRESERVING PEACE
IN OPERATION DESERT STORM
WHEREAS, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion
desire to join with the South County communities of the San Luis
Obispo to pay special recognition to the Veterans of prior wars and
the troops and families preserving peace in the Persian Gulf in
support of Desert Storm: and
WHEREAS, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Five Cities Post 2829
and Ladies Auxiliary, George Murray Post 3138 and Ladies Auxiliary,
Arroyo Grande American Legion Post 136 and Ladies Auxiliary, and
Grover City Post 173 desire to join the community in a day of
tribute and celebration for our Veterans on August 3, 1991 in order
to show our appreciation and support for the military: and
WHEREAS, on Saturday, August 3, 1991 VFW Posts 2829 and 3138
and American Legion Posts 136 and 173 desire to establish a day of
celebration with a memorial service on the Pismo Pier, a parade in
Grover City and Arroyo Grande and a reception at the Veterans'
Memorial Building in pismo Beach: and
WHEREAS, this is a special Event for the entire community and
an opportunity to demonstrate our patriotism.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Arroyo Grande
declares this is a community Event and will accept the application
for the Special Event, waive any fees and lend public support to
this day of Tribute and Celebration.
On motion of Council Member Smith , seconded by
council Member Dougall , and on the fOllowing roll call
vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Smith, Dougall, Olsen, Moots and Mayor Millis
NoES: None
ABSENT: None
the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 14th day of
May, 1991-
