R 4009RESOLUTION N0.4009 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE ADOPTING A MULTI.,IURISDICTIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN WHEREAS, the cost of disaster recovery in the United States has dramatically increased over the past decade promoting interest in providing effective ways to minimize our country's hazard vulnerability; and WHEREAS, the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 constitutes an effort by the Federal government to reduce the rising cost of disasters; and WHEREAS, the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 ties mitigation funding to cities, counties, and tribal governments that have approved Local Hazard Mitigation Plans; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 was to establish a national program for pre-disaster mitigation, streamline administration of disaster relief at both the federal and state levels, and control federal costs of disaster assistance; and WHEREAS, the City of Arroyo Grande has gone through the planning process with community participation and developed aMulti-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan that meets the needs established by the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande adopts the Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan for the Cities of Arroyo Grande and Grover Beach and the Lucia Mar Unified School District. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution and a copy of the Multi- Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan will be forwarded to the Governor's Office of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. On motion by Council Member Costello, seconded by Council Member Guthrie, and by the following roll call vote, to wit: AYES: Council Members Costello, Guthrie, Arnold, and Mayor Ferrara NOES: Council Member Fellows ABSENT: None the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 24~h day of April, 2007.
