RESOLUTION NO. 2388
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE
APPOINTING A REPRESENTATIVE
TO THE SOLID WASTE TASK FORCE
AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 2384
WHEREAS, the San Luis Obispo County Solid Waste Manaqement
Plan, which was adopted in 1986, recommended the establishment of
a Solid Waste commission to act as an advisory aqency for solid-
waste-related matters; and
WHEREAS, on May 26, 1987, the County Board of Supervisors
I established a County Waste Manaqement Commission to implement both
I the Solid Waste Manaqement Plan and the Hazardous Waste Manaqement

L Plan, under Assembly Bill 2948 (Tanner); and
WHEREAS, the County Waste Manaqement Commission was split into
two commissions on December 6, 1988, one to address hazardous waste
matters and one to address solid waste matters; and
WHEREAS, effective January 1, 1990, the portions of the State
Health and Safety Code that required the Solid Waste Manaqement
Plan were repealed; and
WHEREAS, since the County Solid waste Manaqement Plan no
lonqer exists, the Solid Waste Manaqement Commission also may be
considered to no lonqer exist; and

WHEREAS, on January 1 , 1990, 939 - "The
California Inteqrated Waste Manaqement Act of 1989" became
effective and requires appointment of a local task force by March
1, 1990, to assist in coordinatinq the development of City and
County source reduction and recyclinq elements and to prepare a
Countywide sitinq element; and
WHEREAS, on January 4, 1990, the County Solid Waste Manaqement
Commission considered and approved a motion to recommend to the
Cities and County that the Commission be established as the Solid
Waste Task Force.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Arroyo Grande does hereby appoint City Council Member A.
K. "Pete" Douqall to serve as the City's representative on the
Solid Waste Task Force.
On motion of Council Member Smith, seconded by Council Member
Moots, and on the followinq roll call vote, to wit:
