RESOLUTION NO. 2354
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE
DECLARING ITEMS TO BE PLACED ON A SURPLUS LIST
AND DONATED TO ANOTHER GOVERNMENTAL AGENCY
WHEREAS, the City of Arroyo Grande has certain property,
including bicycles and a scooter, which have been on a Police
Department "Found Property" list for more than 90 days with little
possibility of locating the owner(s): and
WHEREAS, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department has
a program in which jail inmates repair and restore bicycles to
"like new" condition for needy families at Christmast1me, and the
requests for bicycles are greater than the supply: and
WHEREAS, in 1988 the Sheriff's Department donated restored __
bicycles, which were distributed to the families receiving gifts
through the Arroyo Grande Police Department's "Santa Cop" program,
and will be donating to the program again this year; and
WHEREAS, families referred to the "Santa Cop" program for
assistance are carefully screened to determine the extent of their
need: and
WHEREAS, in lieu of a public auction, authorization is being
requested to release the property to another governmental agency.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Arroyo Grande
does declare as surplus and authorize the following to be donated
to a worthy cause - the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department
program of repairing and restoring bicycles for needy families at
Christmastime:
