City Police ~udge Eldridge was present and was natiPied .af~. the Board's ruling oP last meeting, requiring the•City Judge to kkep his boots and ~naintain his Court in the City Hacll. Claims against the General Fund in the amount o~`~$667.32 and the '~ater Fund in the amount oP $324.30 were audited~ approQed and ordered paid. Gibson in the ehair. Upon roll call Councilmen Conrad, Phillips, Sehnyder and Whitlock reported present. Aiasent none. ~Iinutes of revious meeting read ~nd approved as read. ~rs. F. ~ar appeared representing the I~rroyo Grande V~oman`s elub, tp ask that the City consider taking over the old Grammer Sehool grounds on a 99 year lease proposition, and converting the same into a City Park. Also to assist the club by Furnishing labor in planting ornamental shrubs at the entran~es to the City and to cooperate in trying to seeure a program for the instalation of sidewalks, Eurbs and gutters on some oP the principal streets. `~'he Board agreed to look f.avorably upon the diFferent propositions and ~elegated a committee of whomever eould be present to m~et with the Se~cbol Board at their next reg~lar meeting~ to determine whether or not a 99 year lease which would be suita.ble to the City cou~d be undertaken. ~oved, seconded and regu~arly carried that due to the ill health and financial eondition of D~rs. Fobes, her water bill be waived for the present time. ~ioved, seconded and regularly carried that I~ssistant water Superintendent~s salary be increased to $145.00 er month and Str~et Superintendent's salary be increased to $~0.00 per manth both effective November lst. A~ter due deliberation~ the request of Robert Sgehr for a reduetion _in valuation on Lots 5 to 12 in Block 13 of' the Western Addition ~r~~ =~~i13:ed.
