4 4 RESOLUTION NO. 2282
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE HONORING PUBLIC WORKS
SUPERVISOR GREGORY J. DUTRA FOR HIS
OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE CITY
WHEREAS, Gregory J. Dutra retired from his position as Public
Works Street supervisor for the City of Arroyo Grande on December
30, 1988 after nearly 29 years of service; and
WHEREAS, he has been one of the key employees in the field
division of the Public Works Department; and
WHEREAS, Greg was appointed to the position of Street Foreman
in 1964, and since that time has worked as a key player in the City
Council's efforts to provide the Citizens of the city of Arroyo
Grande with the best streets in the South County using the limited
amount of road funding available to the City; and
WHEREAS, Greg has openly and freely contributed his knowledge
to the benefit of the Citizens throughout the Tri-Counties area of
the South Coast of California through his continued participation
in the Maintenance Superintendents Association, an organization
which Greg has served as a President and Executive Board member in
past years since its formation in 1966; and
WHEREAS, Greg has worked in the City of Arroyo Grande streets
as a maintenance man as well as foreman over the years and has
personally worked on each and every street wi thin the City,
actually constructed water and sewer mains and worked on two
Corporation Yards for the City; and
WHEREAS, Greg has shared freely his time and labor during
times of natural calamities, including during floods which have
occurred in 1969, 1973, 1978 and 1983; and
WHEREAS, Greg has always administered his posi tion
efficiently, pleasantly and professionally; and
WHEREAS, the city Council of the City of Arroyo Grande is
appreciative of Greg's dedication to the city and his efforts on
its behalf and wishes to take this opportunity to express its
thanks for his faithful and professional service;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE
does hereby resolve as follows:
That it recognizes the accomplishments of Gregory J. Dutra as
the Street Supervisor of the City of Arroyo Grande for almost 29
years; and
That the City Council hereby expresses its thanks and
appreciation to Greg for the manner in which he has worked with the
City to implement goals of the City Council with regard to street
construction and maintenance.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Arroyo Grande hereby expresses its congratulations to Greg on his
retirement and wishes him continued health and contentment in his
future endeavors.
On motion of Council Member Smith, seconded by Council Member
Olsen, and on the following roll call vote, to wit:'

the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 24th day of
