R 2280 42 RESOLUTION NO. 2280 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE ACCEPTING THE PENAL CODE REQUIREMENTS RELATING TO THE SELECTION AND TRAINING OF PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHERS WHEREAS, all 10cal agencies that are now in the Police Officers Standards and Training are eligible to participate in the Public safety Dispatcher Program, and eligible agencies will be reimbursed for certain dispatcher training cost only if they participate in the program I and . WHEREAS, minimum standards for public safety dispatchers hired after the date an agency joins the program are (a) a thorough background investigation, (b) a medical examination, (c) an evaluation of oral communications skills, (d) satisfactory completion of a P.O.S.T. certified 80 hour Basic Complaint/Dispatchers course within 12 months of date of hire, and (e) a minimum of 12 months probation; and WHEREAS, to participate in the Public Safety Dispatchers program, the City of Arroyo Grande must submit a request to participate, accompanied by a Resolution pledging adherence to the standards adopted by the Commission. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Arroyo Grande declares that it desires to qualify to receive aid from the State of California under the provisions of Section 13522, Chapter 1, of Title 4, Part 4, of the California Penal Code. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that pursuant to Penal .Code Section 13510(c), Chapter 1, the Arroyo Grande Police Department will adhere to standards for recruitment and training established by the California commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that pursuant to Penal Code Section 13512, Chapter 1, the commission and its representatives may make such inquiries as deemed appropriate by the commission to ascertain that the Arroyo Grande pUblic safety dispatcher personnel adhere to standards for selection and training established by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. On motion of Council Member Moots, seconded by Council Member Dougall, and on the following roll call vote, to wit: AYES: Council Members Moots, Dougall, Olsen, Smith and Mayor Millis NOES: None ABSENT: None the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 27th day of December, 1988.
