RESOLUTION NO. 2274
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE
DECLARING ITEMS TO BE PLACED ON A SURPLUS LIST
AND DONATED TO ANOTHER GOVERNMENTAL AGENCY
WHEREAS, the city of Arroyo Grande has certain property
including bicycles, scooters and a skateboard that have been on a
police Department "Found Property" list for more than 90 days with
no possibility of locating the owner(s); and

WHEREAS, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department has
a program in which inmates repair and restore bicycles to "like
new" condition for needy families at Christmastime, and the
requests for bicycles are greater than the supply; and
WHEREAS, in 1987 the Sheriff's Department donated six restored
bicycles, which were distributed to the families receiving gifts
through the Arroyo Grande Police Department's "Santa Cop" program,
and will be donating to the program again this year; and
WHEREAS, families referred to the "Santa Cop" program for
assistance are carefully screened to determine the extent of their
need; and
WHEREAS, in lieu of a public auction, authorization is being
requested to release the property to another governmental agency,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Arroyo Grande
does declare as surplus and authorize the following to be donated
to a worthy cause - the San Luis Obispo County sheriff's Department
program of repairing and restoring bicycles for needy families at
Christmastime:

2. 88-399 - Boy's 10 speed, gray, unknown make bicycle
3. 88-'\15 - Diamond Bark II, chromoly, boy's 20" bicycle
4. 88-456 - Raleigh sprite, 10 speed, boy's brown bicycle, heavily
damaged
5. 88-832 - Powel1-Perotta skateboard, pink
6. 88-936 - Free-Spirit Tourney, 10 speed, boy's red bicycle
7, B8-937 - Huffy Open Road, 10 speed, boy's maroon bicycle
8. 88-990 - Hedstrom scooter, white with hand brakes
9. 88-1118 - Open Road BMX, boy's 20" chrome bicycle
10. 88-1235 - Kingston beach cruiser, boy's blue bicycle
11. 88-1395 - Variflex-Strada scooter, red and white
12. 88-1412 - Boy'S 10 speed green bicycle with blue seat, unknown
make
13. ~8-1472 - Coast King, 10 speed, boy's red bicycle
14. 88-1498 - Boy's 10" dirt bike, blue seat and tires, unknown ~
make
15. No, # - Galaxy-Biscayne, 10 speed, boy's red bicycle
On motion of Council Member Dougall, seconded by Council
Member Moots, and on the following roll call vote, to wit:

ABSENT: None
