Minutes 1953-10-21 ~7~ Arroyo Grande, California October 21, 1953 `rhe City Council met in regular session with Councilman Kerr and Burt . present. Councilman Kirkpatrick arrived quite awhile later. Councilmen Simpson and Sturges absent. The meeting.was called to order by the Clerk and it was moved and seconded that Councilman Burt act as Mayor. _ The minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved as r~ad. Mr. .Anderson reported the swinging bridge repair was almost completed and Mr. Miller had ginen verbal approval, and a letter would be raritten approving the job. He asked that turn buckles be put on the cables which had been used to anchor the bridge to keep it from side swaying, and that new wire be put on the sides of the bridge in a 3Tear or so. He also asked that si~ s be placed on the bridge that any unnecessary roughness on the bridge was prohibited and also no bicycles or motorcy~les be rid.den on the bridge and the public be notified the bridge would be closed if it was not properly used. The Council authorized Mr. Anderson to open the bridge Friday if it was ready. 6Jhen Mr. Harris arrived he asked the Council to hold up the opening of the bridge until the letter from Daniel, Mann, Jo~inson and Mendenhall was received and also a letter from the Insurance carrier, with their approva.l. It was ab eed to hold up the opening of the bridge until the Nov. l~th meeting. - - -Anderson reported 1'~r. Schopp from the Pacific Coast Lumber Company had , ~ . asked if it Would be possible to extend the water line out ~rand Avenue to 20th . Street as he had .talked with several property oxners who were interested in having City water. Anderson reported it would be approximately 770 feet additional ` and he was told to give them an estimate of the cost and see if they sould be ~ able to raise the necessary money. f Anderson asked if it would be necessary to adnertise for bids on the laying of the water line on Grand Avenue. Mr. Harris agreed to let us know if it would be neccssary. And~rson read the report from the Engineer's on the estimates for painting the City Hall and said he intended to write up specifications for using Chroma.lith paint and aske~of' bids from those bidding. ~ moti.on by Councilman Kerr, seconded by Councilman Kirkpatrick to accept the Crane Co. bid on 1500 ft. of 6" asbestos cement pipe at ~l.Lt2 per ft. and 2300 ft. of pipe at ~.924 per ft. F.O.B. yard at Arroyo Grande. Motion carried. ' l.1; 1 ;t~ ~ ~ . ~ C Motion by Councilman Kerr~ seconded by Councilman Kirkpatrick to ~ allow Mr. Anderson to attend the American Waterworks Coneention in San Francisco and authorize his expenditures not to exceed ~100.00. . Bills against the C3eneral Fund for ~1690.57 and the Water Fund for ~793•09 ~rere audited~ approved and ordered paid. . No further business appearing and upon motion the me~ting wa~ ad~oir~ed. .
