RESOLUTION NO. 2247
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE SUPPORTING
EXPANSION OF THE ARROYO GRANDE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL
WHEREAS, Arroyo Grande Community Hospital has been steadfastly
serving the medical care needs of the Citizens of Arr6yo Grande and
all residents of the South county for 25 years; and
WHEREAS, the hospital is in great need of new facilities, and
plans have been made for updating operatinq rooms, emergency room,
x-ray facilities and a new Intensive Care Unit: and
WHEREAS , architectural plans have been completed, and -
groundbreaking is scheduled for September, 1988: and I
WHEREAS , without the new facilities, closure of medical J
services most likely will occur, including the Emergency Room,
which serves approximately 10,000 patients per year; and
WHI!:REAS , American Medical International, owner of the
hospital, is committed to providing quality medical care in our
area: and
WHEREAS, the hospital expansion is essential to fulfill AMI'S
committment to our community's future.
WHEREAS, AMI is one of the largest employers in our C01'll1ll\mi ty ,
and has approximately 2,000 inpatient admissions and 20,000
outpatient visits every year.
NOW, THEREFORE" BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Arroyo Grande does praise and encourage the efforts of AMI
to provide essential, health care t6 the community, and urges
citizens, of the South County to share in that support.
On motion of council Member Millis, seconded by Council Member
Porter, and on the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Millis, Porter, Moots, Johnson and Mayor
Mankins
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 9th day of
August, 1988.
