LOPEZ WATER CHARGE DISCUSSION
General discussion was held by ~he Council reg~~dir~g vario~~ methods
for a more equitable distribution to obta~.n °~he revenue necesser.ry °to meet
the Lopez Contract Obliga°tiono It was a~.so d~scusse~ tk~a°t the ~rarying
amounts paid within °khe to°tal area served m~.gh°t poss~b~.y be equecl~.~ed,
as all areas served are witl~in °the Zone 3 Dis~~ic-t, C~°ty Adm~n~strator
Butch was instructed to investigate ~he possa~b~l~°ty ofi a Lopez che~,rge
being made to the Oceano Wa~ter Company, for °those'areas they serve water
to inside the city limits of Ar~°oyo Grandea and cs,ls~ de~ermine ~f Tract '
No. 80 and Tract Noo 142 are w~thin ~the boundary of Coun°ty Service
Area 13.
After Council discuss~on, City Admin~st~~ator B~,t~h. tra~,s requested
to review and submit a comparison rep~r°~ if the mon~h~y Lopez Water
charge was reduced by $a75~ and a$a25~ pe~ Z00 ass~~s~e~ val~a.at~on charge
be levied in conjunction with C~°ty °taxeso

LOPEZ WATER CHARGE DISCUSSION
The City Council fur~her rev~.~wecl and d~scussed °the Lopez Water
charges and °the Ci°ty Administra°tor presented a compar~son revenue report
of reducing °the mon°thly Lopez Water cha.~ge by $075~ and a$e25~ per 100
assessed valuation charge be levied a~n conjunction with City taxes, versus
the exis°ting $6,00 per month fla~k ~a°ke c~Za~geo Several C~tizens present
spoke in favor of maintaining °khe fla°k ra°~e of $6,00 per month, After
Council d~scussion, it was agreed tha~ fiurther review o~ Lopez Water
charges be placed on °the agenda for the ~°egr~.lei.r Gouncil meeting of July
23,'1968,
The City Adminis~trator read a le°t°ter ~~om City A°t~orney Shipsey ou°t-
lining the possibility of ~mposing a B~a.siness License Fee on the Oceano
Wnter Coa, plus a connection fee for each hook-up, for the areas served
by the Oceano Water Company inside the ci°ty lim~ts of Arroyo Grande. After
Council discussion, it was agreed ~his ma.°t°ter be g~ven further study be-
fore any action is taken,
