4YfiEREAS,,J. A. BECKETT and his wife, ELFRIDA E. BECKETT, have
become the owners of Lot 5 in Block 36 in Beckett~s Crown Hill Addition
to the City of Arroyo Grande by reason of a deed made and executed
by the County Tax Collector of the County of San Luis Obispo on behalf
of the State of California; and
PIHEREAS, said J. A. Beckett, et ux., have com,nenced an action in
the Superior Court of the State of California, in and for the County
of San Luis Obispo, to quiet their said title to said real property;
and
4JiiEREP,S,,said parties plaintiff in said action have failed and
neglected to make the City of Arroyo Grande a party defendant in said
action and are desirous of quieting their title against any of the
claims of said City of Arroyo Grande; and
4YHEREA5,~,the City of Arroyo Grande claims no title in or to said
premises excepting arty rights it may have therein as follows:
1. Tax liens, encumbrances or other rights or interests of said
City of Arroyo Grande, a municipal corporation, attaching, arising or
accruing after, February 16, 1940, the date of said tax sale described
in plaintiffs' complaint.
2. Any lien or installments of assessments, which installments
did not or will not become due after said date of sale.
3. Any easements, rights or rights of way for highway, road
or other public purposes.
4. Any liens for direct assessments; and
VVHEREAS,,said parties have requested that the City of Arroyo Grande
stipulate in said action that the said parties have judgment that they
are the owners of the said premises as against the said City of
Arroyo Grande excepting as above set forth.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that ;~. R. Van Wormer, City
Attorney of the City of Arroyo Grande, be, and he is hereby authorized

and empovrered,to enter into a stipulation concerning the matters
aforesaid in the words and figures following, to-wit:
STIPULATION FOR JUDG~GENT QUIETING TITLE.
It is hereby stipulated by and between the above named
plaintiffs, and the City of Arroyo Grande, a municipal corporation,
that the complaint on file herein be amended on its face to include
the City of Arroyo Grande, a municipal corporation, as a party defen-
dant in said action.
It is further stipulated that plaintiffs have judgment that
plaintiffs are the owners of the premises described as follows,
to-wit:
Lot five (5) Block 36, in the Beckett~s Crown Hill
Addition, to the Town of Arroyo Grande, also known as
Beckett and Cogs Addition.
except as follows:
1. Tax liens, encuribraiZCes or other rights or interests of
said City of Arroyo Grande, a municipal corporation, attaching,
arising or accruing after February 16, 1940, the date of said tax
sale described in plaintiffs complaint.
2. Any lien or installments of assessments, which installments
did not or will not become due after said date of sale.

It is further stipulated that said judgment will expressly
provide that plaintiffs ownership of said premises is subject to
the foregoing.
It is further stipulated that no costs or money judgment will
be filed or taY.en against said city in this action.
