A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARROYO GRANDE UPHOLDING IN PART AND DENYING IN
PART AN APPEAL REGARDING THE EXTENSION OF A "NO
PARKING" ZONE ON HILLCREST DRIVE
WHEREAS, on November 19, 2007 the Traffic Commission accepted public comment
and recommended the extension of a "No Parking" zone between 1575 and 1545
Hillcrest Drive to the Director of Public Works/City Engineer; and
WHEREAS, on February 25, 2008 the Traffic Commission considered a written request
to review the November 19, 2007 decision and reaffirmed their recommendation to the
Public Works Director/City Engineer of the extension of a "No Parking" zone on Hillcrest
Drive; and
WHEREAS, on February 29, 2008, Leonard Berry and Valerie Bennett filed a written
appeal to the City Council to reverse the decision of the Public Works Director/City
Engineer for the extension of a "No Parking" zone on Hillcrest Drive; and
WHEREAS, on April 22, 2008, the City Council found, based on all available evidence
presented, that the public health, safety and welfare demand the extension of a portion
of the "No Parking" zone between 1575 and 1545 Hillcrest Drive.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Arroyo
Grande hereby upholds in part the appeal of Leonard Berry and Valerie Bennett and
approves a "Parking Allowed" section on the west side of Hillcrest in front of 1585,
starting at the edge of the driveway at 1585 Hillcrest Drive and extending to the existing
"No Parking" sign on the southwestern edge of 1585 Hillcrest Drive and that said
parking be limited to a maximum of two parking spaces.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande that all
additional "No Parking" zones that were approved by the Director of Public Works are
hereby ratified and approved.
On motion of Council Member Arnold, seconded by Council Member Guthrie, and on
the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Arnold, Guthrie, and Fellows
NOES: Council Member Costello and Mayor Ferrara
ABSENT: None
the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 13th day of May 2008.
