RESOLUTION NO. 32 9 0
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE, CALIFORNIA
ESTABLISHING SPECIFIED FEES FOR
THE COMMUNITY GARDEN PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City Council is empowered to establish parks and recreation programs
and to impose fees for services furnished by, or on behalf of, the City of Arroyo Grande;
and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department recommends the approval of a
Community Garden Program ('eprogram"); and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously recommends
establishment of this proposed Program; and
WHEREAS, fees for such a program do not exist and it is the City's desire and intent to
recover the cost of operating such a Program; and
WHEREAS, the Program envisions the creation of a total of 28 parcels which will be
leased to community members to grow plants and vegetables; and
WHEREAS, a fee of eighteen dollars ($18) per parcel each six (6) months will generate
a total of $1,008 in revenue for this Program; and
WHEREAS, the proposed fees will cover the cost of providing water for this Program,
which is the only ongoing cost to be incurred by the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Arroyo
Grande, California as follows:
The City Council authorizes the establishment of a Community Garden
Program for the citizens of Arroyo Grande. Additionally, the City Council
authorizes the establishment of a fee of $18 per parcel for six months with
fees due January 1 st and July 1 st of each year.
On motion of Council Member Runels , seconded by Council Member
Fuller , and on the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Runels, Fuller, Tolley, Lady, and Mayor Dougall
