CALL TO ORDER The Honorable City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande met in a special session at 6:30 p.m. for a Reorganization Meeting. 2. FLAG SALUTE Loni Kuentzel, Arroyo Grande Valley Kiwanis Club 3. INVOCATION Reverend Randy Ouimette, St. John's Lutheran Church and Arroyo Grande Fire Chaplain 4. ROLL CALL Council: -LDougall, -X-Lady, X Fuller, X Runels ----X- Tolley 5. PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD Marie Burt, 414 Orchard, thanked the City for responding to, her complaint about street sweeping. She said the Public Works Department not only cleaned the street but also trimmed the trees in front of her home. 6, REMARKS BY DEPARTING COUNCIL MEMBER MICHAEL FULLER Council' Member Fuller said he appreciated the opportunity to serve the City. He said he had always tried to do what was honest and in the best interest of the City. 7. REMARKS BY DEPARTING MAYOR A. K. "PETE" DOUGALL Mayor Dougall thanked his family, campaign workers, Council Members, City employees, and citizens for their support throughout the 10 years he served on the City Council. 8, RESOLUTION STATING RESULTS OF CANVASS OF RETURNS City 'Clerk Nancy A. Davis recommended the Council adopt the Resolution accepting the Certificates of the County Clerk declaring the results of the canvass of all votes cast November 3, 1998 at the Consolidated General Election. She said the number of votes cast was 6,816 for a 69.8 percent voter turnout, and there were 3,026 absentee ballots cast. OATH OF OFFICE ADMINISTERED BY CITY CLERK NANCY A. DAVIS City Clerk Davis administered the Oath of Office to Mayor Michael A. Lady, Council Member Jim Dickens, and Council Member Tony M. Ferrara. Council Member Ferrara thanked his family and supporters for their help in the campaign. He also thanked those who remained involved in the General Plan Update and noted the phenomenal results of the Citizen Survey. He stressed the importance of the General Plan and pledged his support for an open and energetic Council. Council Member Dickens thanked his family, reviewed his positions on . agriculture, the City's character, local business, and neighboring cities. He pledged to honor the City's heritage, strengthen the assets that make Arroyo Grande distinctive, and work collaboratively to achieve the goals and standards set forth in the General Plan '. ... -",- Mayor Lady praised the professionalism of the former City Council and said the new Council will be willing to listen and hear the constituents. He thanked his family and other supporters. He said he was looking 'forward to the next two years in office. o. 13. SELECTION OF MAYOR PRO TEM Council Member Runels moved the nomination of Council Member Tolley as Mayor Pro Tem. Council Member Tolley seconded the motion. It was moved by Council Member Dickens, and seconded by Council Member Ferrara to nominate Council Member Ferrara as Mayor Pro Tern. ADJOURNMENT Council Member Dickens moved, Mayor Pro Tern Ferrara seconded, and the motion passed unanimously to adjourn to a reception for the new City Council.
