RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 1883
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARROYO GRANDE INDICATING INTENTION TO MODIFY
THE GENERAL PLAN BY AMENDING BOTH THE MAP AND
THE TEXT TO ADJUST THE "AGRICULTURAL" LAND USE
CATEGORY
WHEREAS, it is the stated goal of the City Council to preserve and main-
tain the agricultural soil resources within the City of Arroyo Grande, and
WHEREAS, in order to achieve the stated goal, a comprehensive agricultural
land policy must be a part of the City's General Plan, and
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Agriculture, Soils Conservation
Service has prepared an updated Agricultural Land Evaluation which serves as
a guide for land use policy development, and which indicates certain areas of
the City that should fall under an Agricultural Land Preservation Policy.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that it is the intention of the City
Council of the City of Arroyo Grande to amend the City's Comprehensive General
Plan to include all land areas falling into the soil categories of Class I,
Class II and Class III "Prime Agricultural Soi Is" not incumbered with develop-,
ment or development commitments by the City, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is the intention to modify the text of the
General Plan to include an amended definition of "Agricultural Soils" to
include Class I, Class II and Class III "Prime Agricultural Soils" and to
establish a minimum parcel size of 10 acres on any prime agricultural land not
presently developed or incumbered by development commitments by the City.
On motion of Council Members Gallagher, seconded by Council Member Moots,
and on the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Gallagher, Johnson, Moots, Porter and Mayor Smith
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted the 27th day of August, 1985.
