RESOLUTION NO. 1841
A RESOLUTION OF 1HE CITY COUNCIL OF 1HE
CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE RE~STING INITIATION
OF A SPECIAL STIDY FOR IDENTIFICATION AND
ACQ,JISITION OF A STATE HIGHWAY 227 BYPASS
ROUTE REALIGNMENT; AND INTERIM IMPROVEMENTS
TO CERTAIN PORTIONS OF EXISTING HIGHWAY 227.
WHEREAS, State Highway 227 is a route of major regional
significance; and
WHEREAS, such route provides critical access to the core
commercial Village area of Arroyo Grande; and
WHEREAS, such route is presently severely overburdened
and hazardous within the City limits; and
WHEREAS, a Highway 227 bypa.. is recommended in both the
City of Arroyo Grande'. Circulation Element and San Lui. Obi.po
County's Regional Transportation Plan; and
WHEREAS, development pressures necessitate identification
and right-of-way acquisition of such bypass realignment as .oon
as practicable.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Arroyo Grande to reque.t of the California Tran.portation
Commission a Special Study to identify the propo.ed Highway 227
realignment, and initiation of right-of-way protection and
acquisition proceeding., as well as a .tudy of interim
improvements on the exi.ting Highway 227 corridor.
On motion by Council Member Gallagher, seconded by
Council Member Porter and by the following roll call vote, to
wi t:
AYES: Council Member. Gallagher, Porter and Mayor Smith
NOES: None
ABSENT: Council Members John.on and Porter
The foregoing Re.olution was adopted this 26th day of March,
1985.
