Dear Arroyo Grande City Council,
Thank you for the opportunity to speak and support Lan George in her decision to run for the open City
Council position. I have known Lan for the past several years as our daughters attended AGHS together
and participated in various sports leagues.
Lan and I served together on the board of the Five Cities Girls Softball League and shaped the
organization for several seasons.Any of us who have participated in youth sports understand the
challenges of running a league from rule making to handling stressful parent interactions.
Lan handled herself with a measured stride and consistently made productive decisions after taking all
input into account.She was excellent at working with the other board members and advocating her
position with skill while staying focused on decisions that yielded positive outcomes for all. I especially
respect her ability to think out of the box and propose solutions that had not been previously
considered.
She not only proposed and advocated some innovative paths,she stayed focused,and grounded these
ideas,working with other community members and the board to solve some of the most challenging
issues we faced. Myself and the other board members grew to respect her leadership talents and over
time her responsibilities grew to involve every facet of the organization.
In addition to working with her on an appointed position, I have also been a client of her consulting
business. I find Lan's professionalism and effective communication skills make working with her very
easy. Her knowledge of digital advertising and promotion as well as her ability to strategically plan
helped increase my brand exposure online.She is versed in all aspects of social media and brings vast
experience to the conversation.
I feel that Arroyo Grande is fortunate to have her interest in this position and that she represents the
best option for the open council seat.
