HONORARY PROCLAMATION
RECOGNIZING THE 110TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
ARROYO GRANDE COUNCIL 1375
WHEREAS, the Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service
organization with 1. 7 million members, providing its members and their families with volunteer
opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people; and
WHEREAS, the Knights of Columbus Arroyo Grande Council 1375 was fonned on February 28,
1909 and is among the oldest councils in California; and
WHEREAS, the members of Knights of Columbus Arroyo Grande Council 1375 come from all
walks of life, ages, ethnicity, political affiliations and professions; and
WHEREAS, Knights of Columbus Arroyo Grande Council 1375 is dedicated to supporting the
St. Patrick's Church parish and local community, and many of the Knights are involved with
various church ministries; and
WHEREAS, Knights of Columbus Arroyo Grande Council 1375 has a full program of community
services and activities serving the Central Coast, including, but not limited to, the organization of
blood drives, raising fimds for the Special Olympics of San Luis Obispo County, providing
educational scholarships to its members and eligible family members; contributing and assisting
with local food banks and outreach programs, prison ministry, sponsorship of an Adopt-a-Highway
program along Highway 101, and honoring the U.S. Military with an Annual Veteran's Day
dinner.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Caren Ray Russom, Mayor of the City of
Arroyo Grande, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby thank Knights of Columbus Arroyo
Grande Council 1375 for its long-time service to the Arroyo Grande community and further
recognize the celebration ofits I 10th Anniversary.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the
Seal of the City of Arroyo Grande to be affixed this 26th day of February 2019.
