The intention of the ARC committee is to determine if proposed projects fit within the context of the city's vision of architectural standards. These standards are derived from a combination of design principles, values, and local historical precedents. It is imperative that these standards are taken seriously and that each project brought before the board is thoroughly considered. Given that buildings have a life span of about 100 years (if not more), the future architectural climate of Arroyo Grande is determined by the buildings constructed today.
