RESOLUTION NO. 17S7
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARROYO GRANDE PROMOTING PUBLIC USE OF THE
PUBLIC BEACH, GRAND AVENUE AREA, GROVER CITY,
CALI FORN I A WITHOUT FEE OR CHARGE.
WHEREAS, the public beaches of South San Luis Obispo County are.a natural
and scenic resource; and
WHEREAS, such public beaches are an integral part of the life style of the
citizens of Arroyo Grande and the Central Coast; and
WHEREAS,. free access to such publ ic beaches is necessary to provide
opportunity for all citizens, regardless of financial status, to enjoy and
participate in beach activities and to share in the heritage of Central Coast
treasures provided by Its. unique beaches and ocean front; and
WHEREAS, such opportunities should be made available to future generations
of Central Coast residents and visitors;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Arroyo Grande hereby resolves that:
1. No fees shou1d be imposed upon pedestrians or vehicles
for access to the pub1ic beach at Grand Avenue; and
2. No indirect fee or cost measures, such as parking fees,
should be imposed on public lands to cause costs to the.
public utilizing the public beach at Grand Avenue; and
3. Existing fees and/or charges for pedestrians and/or
vehicles should be removed to promote public enjoyment
and access to said beach at Grand Avenue.
On motion by Council Member Mi 11 is, ' seconded by Council Member Vandeveer,
and on the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Vandeveer, Gallagher, Mil1 is, Hogan and Mayor Smith
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
the following Resolution was passed and adopted this 10th day of Apri I 1984.
