R 1678 .. - ~. - ---__.___.__~._.~__._..._._.__.~_. - _._.___n____n_ --....- \ ~ ~ .- 165 RESOLUTI ON NO. 1678 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE RELATIVE TO PUBLICATION OF CITY ORD I NANCES WHEREAS, Government Code Section 36933 provides for alternative methods of publishing city ordinances; and WHEREAS, the alternative methods provide more flexibility to the City and will result in a savings in publication costs; and WHEREAS, the law requires the City Council to designate a City official to make the decision as to which alternative is appropriate and to carry out that decision. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: I. As required by subsection c(I) and c(2) of Section 36933 of the California Government Code, the City Council designates the City Cle~k as the official responsible for preparing and publishing summaries of proposed ordinances or proposed amendments to existing ordinance. 2. A summary shall be published and a certified copy of the full text of the proposed ordinance or proposed amendment shall be posted in the office of the City Clerk at least five (5) days (or such other time as Is permitted or required by Section 36933 of the Government Code) prior to the City Council meeting at which the proposed ordinance or amendment or alteration thereto is to be adopted. Within fifteen (15) days (or such other time as is permitted or required by Section 36933 of the Government Code) after adoption of the ordinance or amendment, the City Council shall publish a summary of the ordinance or amendment and the City Clerk shall post in the office of the City Clerk a certified copy of the full text of such adopted ordinance or amendment, along with the names o~ those City Council members voting for and against the ordinance or amendment. 3. If the City Clerk determines that It is not feasible to prepare a fair and adequate summary of the proposed or adopted ordinance or amendment, a display advertisement of at least one-quarter page In a newspaper of general circulation In the City shall be published at least five (5) days (or such other time as is permitted or required by Section 36933 of the Government Code)prlor to the City Council meeting at which the proposed ordinance or amendment or alteration thereto is to be adopted. Within fifteen (15) days (or such other time as is permitted or required by , Section 36933 of the Government Code) after adoption of the ordinance or I amendment, a display advertisement of at least one-quarter of a page shall be pub Ii shed. The advertisement shall Indicate the general nature of, and provide information about, the proposed or adopted ordinance or amendment, Including information sufficient to enable the public to obtain copies of the complete text of such ordinance or amendment. 4. The provisions of this resolution are alternatives to the publication provisions of subsection (a) of Section 36933 of the Government Code. The alternatives may be employed at the discretion of the City Clerk or City Council.
