Subject:armed man on the roof

Never in a million years did I think I would see an armed man on the roof of a business trying
to intimidate peaceful protesters. I am sickened and appalled that this has become something
that is acceptable in the tiny peaceful town of Arroyo Grande. Arroyo Grande has lost my
business and I will make sure that everyone knows that AG is not above cheap scare
tactics. All city leaders should be ashamed of this.

Re: THE PIT Second Amendment Rights
Dear Council Members,
I support THE PIT in protecting their business, or any, and being a deterrent for any
possible troublemakers coming into our area. I would even if it were not a Second
Amendment Rights. The Boy Scout Moto is “be prepared’. In a blink of an eye a Protest
can chang e (explained later). Anyone that felt threatened needs to become educated,
especially on gun safety. An opportunity was missed to have a conversation with kids
about guns and gun safety, IF they even noticed. The sight of those men were mild
compared to what they have seen on TV the last two weeks. Travel more and you will
see guns everywhere, even small airports. Heaven forbid you would have to go to a
town that ha s the National Guard there, like I have.
I am disappointed that this “Much Ado About Nothing ” that Shah has created by lack of
consideration for a business (THE PIT), tact, and respect for the AG Communit y has
lead to it being on the Council Agenda. Really? When I hear people say our area is not
that kind of area for problems, I find it naive. We have all seen the damage to places all
over the country and some towns. Small quiet ones had people come out and line the
streets when ANTIFA like people were reported coming in. ANTIFA went in, drove up-
and -down the streets, looked around and saw the protection then left. In Summerville,
they were told to get their cars and anything in their yard put in garages because they
were coming. They kept driving up and down the street until the neighbors stepped out
with their guns. One of the Antifa was seen filling up Molotov’s at the neighborhood gas
station. They all left when they saw people were protecting . The weekend before the
protest at Grand and Oak Park, I was in an area that did have a protest turn violent.
There were stores damaged, the city Hall broken into, flags were burned, and even a
historical flag stolen. The front of the Protest seemed fine, but the looters lingered
toward the back of the crowd. Remarks in town were , we do not have this kind of thing
in our area. Danville California with a population of around 40,000 was notified Antifa
was coming into the area. The neighbors there armed themself and protected their
neighborhoods. So far, every place that has protected their neighborhoods even the
small communities in Washington State (where I was raised) and the one in Idaho have
not had to fire a single shot. Every area and every store having protection has been
saved because of the presence against would -be looters. Unfortunately, Santa Maria
and San Luis Obispo did have damage no matter where or who it came from. So why
would we be naive enough to think it could not happen in our area, especially in these
uncertain times? I we lcome extra protection.

Finally, I found some of the posts on Shah's FB more threatening than the men on the
roof. I thought it was unnecessary for one person to state, get use to it because there

are going to be more Protests. What does that mean? I wish I had said stop spinning
your wheels go to City Hall and make positive changes through the system . As for
Shah's false remarks on the Congalton show, I find them slanderous to the car club and
Protect Five Cities. There is and was no protest to the Protestors or racism from these
citizens. However, a few hours before the Protest there was said to be a car with
hooded guys hanging out the window being belligerent in that area; so, who knows,
maybe trouble was deterred. I’m glad the guy(s) were there.

I grew up in the area and recently returned to Grover Beach upon the evacuation of my Peace Corps service. I am
extremely disappointed to see what transpired at the peaceful protests on Grand Avenue. These intentional acts of
intimidation were in response to the community showing solidarity in this present day civil rights issue.
Peaceful protesters must not be intimidated and harassed.
Armed men on rooftops should not be tolerated.
The behavior of the officers does not demonstrate a fair or thorough investigation of the incident, rather they sent the
message that they condone threats, harassment, and the systematic injustice these protests are trying to address. I am
disappointed in the leaders of this community for choosing not to do better, including the business owners.
The business owner in question, rather than using this moment to reflect, learn, and respond positively in the
community on how we can all do better he was unwilling to recognize the magnitude of his threat and instead posted
multiple belligerent videos defending his actions.
The impact of these actions are racist and should not be tolerated in our community. I expect my home to do better.
