CC 2020-08-25_06c Police Department Policy and Training Update_PP Presentation Arroyo Grande Police Department POLICY UPDATE Ensuring Quality of Life 1 6/24/2020 LEXIPOL POLICY REVISION Policy revision implemented on August 15, 2020 to reflect AB 392, SB 230 and GC 7286 All polices of high liability areas will be continually examined. Policy 300.2.1 Duty to intercede and report – Language changed from “should report” to “shall promptly report.” Policy 300.4 Revision of deadly force policy to reflect AB392. Language changed so that an officer may only use deadly force when necessary to defend human life. Policy 300.3.4 Suspension of the carotid restraint. While this is not inclusive or standard, to allow for flexibility should the need arise, it is representative of the department’s yearly training.
