RESOLUTION NO. 1527
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY. .
OF ARROYO GRANDE HONORING MAYOR BARNEY SCHWARTZ
FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE CITY OF
EL PASO DE ROBLES
WHEREAS, BARNEY SCHWARTZ has been a member of the City Council
of the City of Paso Robles since 1962 and was elected Mayor ten times
by his fellow Council Members; and
WHEREAS, he has been the guiding force in making Paso Robles the
desirable community that it is today; and
WHEREAS, during his term of office he has served as Chairman
of the following committees and commissions: Water Advisory Committee of
San Luis Obispo County, Local Agency Formation Commission, City Select
Committee, Upper Salinas Valley Protective Association and various other
committees having to do with the progress and welfare of the North County; and
WHEREAS, BARNEY made six trips to Washington, D.C. and was successful
in receiving grants for City projects. He carried the City's problems
to the County Supervisors to obtain assistance. He made many trips to
Sacramento regarding highways. bridges. the boys school, wastewater plant,
interceptor sewer lines and hearings before the Water Resources Board which
resulted in the live stream concept of the Salinas River to insure water
supply to the City of Paso Robles.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That it recognizes the accomplishments of BARNEY SCHWARTZ as
the Mayor of the City of Paso Robles.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Arroyo
Grande hereby expresses regret at BARNEY'S decision not to seek another
term and wishes continued health and contentment in his future endeavors.
On motion of Council Member Vandeveer, seconded by Council Member
Smith, and on the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Smith, Hogan, Millis, Vandeveer, Mayor Pope
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 23rd day of March, 1982.
