CC 2021-07-27_08f Appointment of MPT Paulding_Reach SLO Advisory CommissionMEMORANDUM TO: CITY COUNCIL FROM: WHITNEY MCDONALD, CITY MANAGER BY: JESSICA MATSON, LEGISLATIVE & INFORMATION SERVICES DIRECTOR/CITY CLERK SUBJECT: CONSIDERATION OF APPOINTMENT OF MAYOR PRO TEM PAULDING TO REACH’S SLO ADVISORY COMMISSION DATE: JULY 27, 2021 SUMMARY OF ACTION: Appointment of Mayor Pro Tem Paulding to the REACH SLO Advisory Commission. IMPACT ON FINANCIAL AND PERSONNEL RESOURCES: There is no financial or staffing impact from the recommended action. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended the Council appoint Mayor Pro Tem Paulding to the REACH SLO Advisory Commission. BACKGROUND: REACH is a nonprofit regional economic action coalition which strives to unite public private and civic leaders across the Central Coast of California. REACH’s mission is to increase economic prosperity through big thinking, bold action and regional collaboration. REACH came on the scene in 2018 as the Hourglass Project and has since relaunched. REACH’s SLO Advisory Commission has a vacancy for the Arroyo Grande area and is seeking to fill the seat with a Council Member. ANALYSIS OF ISSUES: The SLO Advisory Commission is responsible for discussing regional issues and advising the Board. The Commission has three meetings through the end of the year on July 28, September 22, and November 17. Mayor Pro Tem Paulding has expressed interest in serving on the Commission. Appoint Mayor Pro Tem Paulding to the Commission; or 2. Provide other direction to staff. ADVANTAGES: Approving the recommended appointment will provide Arroyo Grande representation on the Commission. DISADVANTAGES: No disadvantages have been identified. ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW: No environmental review is required for this item. PUBLIC NOTIFICATION AND COMMENTS: The Agenda was posted at City Hall and on the City’s website in accordance with Government Code Section 54954.2. Item 8.f. - Page 2
