RESOLUTION NO. 1383
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OR THE CITY OF
ARROYO GRANDE APPLYING FOR REIH8URSEMENT OF
EXTRAORDINARY COSTS INCURRED BY THE CITY OF
ARROYO GRANDE DURING THE 1978-79 FISCAL YEAR
EXPENDED TO MEET THE ADDED BURDEN OF PROVIDING
LAW ENFORCEMENT PROTECTION UNDER ExtRAORDINARY
CIRCUMSTANCES. .
WHEREAS, the City of Arroyo Grande received a request from the
San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office for assistance frOlll the Arroyo Gr.nde
City Police Dep.rtment under the mutua! .Id agreement between sOlid city and
county In order to control a major demonstration protesting the Dl.blo Canyon
nuclear power plant on Sunday, August 6, 1978; and
WHEREAS, In response to said request for mutual aid the Arroyo Gr.nde
City Police Department dispatched seven pollee officers who worked under sOlid
mutu.l .Id egreement at Diablo Canyon on August 6th, 7th and 8th, 1978 for the
hours set forth In Exhibit A attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, by so doing, the City of Arroyo Grande has had to deploy
law enforcement personnel on a stepped~up level, utilizing Its own personnel
for other 1oe.I agencies In order to honor Its mutual aid .gree.ent with
. those other egencles; and
WHEREAS, the City of Arroyo Grande has Incurred extraordinary costs
to provide a stepped-up 1evel of law enforcement services due to extraordinary
circumstances; and
WHEREAS, the law enforcement functions of the City of Arroyo Grande,
the local agency for which this claim Is filed, were performed with IlIIpartlallty
and fOIl rMSS;
MOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Arroyo Gr.nda hereby
.pplies for and makes claim for reimbursement of the herein specified extra.
ordinary costs expended by said City's Pollee Department as set forth In said
Exhibit A.
