RESOLUTION NO. 1360
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARROYO GRANOE REQUESTING THE NUCLEAR REGULATORY
COMMISSION TO DEFER FINAL ACTION ON THE OPERAT-
ING LICENSE FOR THE DIABLO CANYON NUCLEAR POWER
PLANT UNTIL DETERMINATION OF SAFETY SYSTEMS HAS
BEEN MAOE.
WHEREAS, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is currently considering the applica-
t ion by the Pacific Gas and Electric Company for a license to operate the Diablo
Canyon Nuclear Power Plant in San Luis Obispo County, California, near the City of
Arroyo Grande;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE DOES HEREBY

RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Sect i on I. The City of Arroyo Grande urges the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to
defer any final action regarding the application by the Pacific Gas and Electric
Company for an operating license for the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant until such
time as the Commission determines that the safety systems of the Diablo Canyon Nuclear
Power Plant are adequate to assure that it can be operated without undue risk to the
public health and safety of the Citizens of the City of Arroyo Grande and neighboring
communi~ies.
Section 2. A copy of this resolution shall be sent to the Nuclear Regulatory
Commission with caples to: U. S. Senator Alan Cranston; U. S. Senator S. I. Hayakawa;
Congressman leon Panetta; Congressman Robert Lagomarsino; Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr.;
State Senator Robert Nimmo, Assemblywoman Carol Hallett; the California Public Uti I i-
ties Commission.
On the motion of Council Member Pope, seconded by Council Member de Leon and on
the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Gallagher, de Leon, Pope, Smith and Mayor Millis.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None,
the fbregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 8th day of May, 1979.
