RESOLUTION NO. 1347
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO
GRANDE STRONGLY OPPOSING PROPOSED STATE OF CALIFORNIA
COASTAL CONSERVATION COMMISSION, SOUTH CENTRAL COAST
REGION EFFORTS TO INCLUDE PORTIONS OF THE CITY OF ARROYO
GRANDE IN THE COASTAL COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, the City of Arroyo Grande, at Its regular City Council meeting of
Tuesday, February 27, 1979, received a report from Its Planning Director that the
South Central Coastal Regional Commission was reviewing possible boundary changes
that would affect the City of Arroyo Grande; and
WHEREAS, the City of Arroyo Grande Is not now, nor has It every been, a
Coastal Community; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande, through It Engin-
eering and Planning Departments, have adequately taken care of the requirements
of any development that occurs within the City of Arroyo Grande, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande unanimously Indicates
Its displeasure et the unilateral action by another agency that would supplement
local control,
NOW, THEREFORE, the Arroyo Grande City Council strongly opposes the efforts
of the South Central Coast Region to include portions of Arroyo Grande In the
Coastal Commission Permit Zone.
FURTHERMORE, the CIty Council of the City of Arroyo Grande calls for other
privata and public agencies In San Luis Obispo County to express their concern and
opposItion to such e proposal by the Coastal Commission, and that copies of this
resolution b. sent to the State of California Coastal Conservation Commission,
South Central Coast Region, Assemblywoman Carol Hallett, Senetor Robert Nimmo,
County of San LuIs ObIspo, City of Plsmo Beach, CIty of Grov.r City, and those
oth.r agencies being affected by the boundarIes of the Coastal CommissIon.
On the motion of Council Member Gallagher, seconded by Council Member de
Lion, and on the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Gallagher, de Leon, Pop., Smith and Mayor Millis.
NOES I None.
ABSENT: None.
