A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO
~ GRANDE, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF THE COUNTY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO TO CONSOLIDATE A GENERAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE TO BE HELO
ON MARCH 7, 1978, WITH THE SPECIAL COUNTY ELECTION TO BE
HELD ON MARCH 7, 1978, PURSUANT TO SECTION 23303 OF THE
ELECTI ONS CODE.

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande will hold a
regular general municipal election on the 7th day of March,1978, pursuant
to the provisions of the laws relating to General Law Cities in the State
of California, for the election of Council Members; and
WHEREAS, it Is desirable that said regular general municipal electi?n
be consolidated with the special county electron to be held on the same date
and that within the City o.f Arroyo Grande the prec.lncts, polling places and
election officers of the two elections be the same, and that the County Clerk
of the County of San Luis Obispo can~ass the returns of the general municipal
election to be held In all respects as If there were only one election;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande does hereby
resolve, determine, and order as follows:
SECTION 1: That pursuant to the requirements of Section 23302 of the
ElectIons Code, the Board of Supervisors of the County of San LuIs Obispo be and
It hereby 15 requested to consent and agree to the consolidation of a general
municIpal electIon wIth the specIal county election on Tuesday, the 7th day of
March, 1978, for the purpose of electing two members of the City ~ouncil of said
City for the full tenn of four years.
SECTIoN 2: SaId Board of Supervisors Is hereby authorized to canvass the
returns of slIId general ,munlclpa.1 elec~fon which It Is hereby requested to
consolidate with saId special county election and said election shalt be held in
all respects as If there were only one election, and only one form of ballot
shall be used.
SECTION 3: Seld Board of SupervJsors Is hereby requested to issue
InstructIons to the County Clerk to take any and all steps necessary for the
holding of saId consolIdated election.
SECTION 4: The City of Arroyo Grande recognizes that additional costs
wIll be Incurred by the County by reason of this consolidation and agrees to
reimburse the County for any such costs.
SECTION 5: That the election services to be performed by the City and
the County,are generally as set forth In Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a
part hereof by reference.
SECTION 6: That the City Clerk of the City of Arroyo Grande is hereby
directed to file a certified copy of this resolution with the County Clerk of the
County of San Luis Obispo.
On motion of Councilman Gallagher, seconded by Councilman Millis and
on the following roll call vote, to wit:

NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Schlegel
