A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO
GRANDE, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NDTICE OF THE
OF THE HOLDING DF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE
HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, THE 7TH DAY OF MARCH,
1978, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS OF SAID
CITY AS REQUIRED BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE LAWS OF THE
STATE OF CALIFORNIA RELATING TO GENERAL LAW CITIES.

WHEREAS, under the provisions of the laws relating to General Law Cities
In the State of CalifornIa, a regular general municipal election shall be held
on the 7th day of March, 1978, for the electIon of two (2) members of the City
Council of said City for the full term of four years; and
WHEREAS, the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors has requested
that the CJt~'s general municipal election be consolidated with the County's
$peclal Election also beIng held on the 7th day of March, 1978.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANOE,
CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That pursuant to the requirements of the laws of the State of
California relating ,to General Law Cities withIn said State, there shall be, and
there Is hereby called and ordered, held in the City of Arroyo Grande, County of
San Luis Obispo, State of California, on Tuesday, the 7th day of March, 1978, a
regulu general municipal election of the qualified electors of said City for the
t purpose of electIng two (2) members of the City Council of said City for the full
~ term of f~ur years.
SECTI ON 2. That the ba 11 ots to be used at sa Ide 1 ect I on sha 11 be, both
t as to form and matter contained therein, such as may be required by law to be
~ used thereat.
SECTION 3. That the polls for said election shall be opened at seven
o'clock A.M. on the day of said election and shall remaln.open continuously from
said time until eight o'clock P.M. of the same day, when said polls shall be closed
e~cept as provIded In Section 14301 of the Elections Code of the State of California.
SECTION 4. That the general municipal election hereby called for the date
hereinbefore specified shall be and Is hereby ordered consolidated with the County-
wide special election to be held on said date, and within said City the precincts,
polling places and officers of election for the general municipal election hereby
called sha~1 be the same as those provided for said countywide special election.
The Board of Supervisors of San Luis Obispo County is hereby requested to order the
consolidation of the general municipal election hereby called with the special
countywide electIon, and said Board of Supervisors Is hereby authorized to canvass
the returns of said general munIcipal election, and said elections shall be held
.. In all respectS as If there were only one election, and only one form of ballot,
namely, the ballots used at said special election shall be used. Sa I d Board of
, Supervisors shall certify the results of the canvass of the returns of said general
~ municipal electIon to the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande, which shall
i thereafter declare the results thereof.
~' SECTI ON 5. That In all particulars not recIted In this Resolution, said
~ election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal
I elections In saId CIty and elections consolidated pursuant to Section 23302 of
fJ the Elections Code.
SECTION 6. That notice of the time and place of holding said election is
hereby given and the City Clerk Is hereby authorized, Instructed and directed to
gIve such further or additional notice of said election, in time, form and manner
as required by law.
SECTI ON 7 . That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption
of this Resolution; shal1 enter the same In the book of original Resolutions of
saId City; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the
records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, In the minutes of
the meeting at which the same Is passed and adopted.
SECTION 8. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately.

on the fol1owing roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Spierllng, Gallagher, Millis and Mayor de Leon

ABSENT: Councilman Schlegel ,
the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 22nd day of November, 1977.
