RESOLUHO" NO, 1154
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARRGYO
GRANDE RELATIVE TO WORKMEN'S C0MPENSATIDN BENEFITS
FOR REGISTERED VOLUNTEER "DISASTER SERVICE WORKERS"
WHEREAS, Section 8580 of the Government Cede (Chapter 1454, Statutues

1970) provides:
"The Emergency Council shall establish by rule and
regulation various classes of disaster servIce
workers and the scope of the duties of each class.
The Emergency COUncil shall also adopt rules and
regulations prescribIng the manner In which dlsester
service workers of each class are to be regIstered,
At! such rules and regululons shall be desIgned t'til
facl Htate the paying of workmen's compensatIon," and
WHEREAS. The Ca \I forn r a Emergency Counc 1\ has adopt.d rules and regu I at Ions
establishing classes of disaster service workers, the scope of duties of each
class, and the manner of regIstratIon of such volunteer disaster service workers:
and
WHEREAS, Section 8612 of the Government Code (Chapter 1454, Statutes
1970) provides:
"Any disaster council which both agrees to follow the
rules and regulations establIshed by theCal Ifornla
Emergency Council pursuant to the provisIons of
Section 8580 and substantIally compIles with such
rules and regulations shall be certified by the
Emergency Council, Upon such certification, and
not before, the disaster council becomes an accredited
d Isas ter counc II , " and
WHEREAS. the City of ArroyCII Grande has reg I stered and will hereafter
register volunteer disaster service workers; and
WHEREAS, the City of Arroyo Grande desires to become an "accredited
dIsaster cOllncl I" organization In order that Injur,ed disaster servIce workers
registered with It may benefIt by the provisions of Chapter 10 of Division 4
of Part 1 of the Labor Code:
NOW, THEREFORE, The City C:ouncll of the City of Arroyo Grande hereby
agrees to follow the rules and regulat'lons established by the CalifornIa
Emergency Council pursuant to the provisions of Section 8580 of the Government
Code.
The City Clerk Is hereby Instructed to send a certifIed copy hereof
(4/75) to the California Emergency Council,

on the following roll call vote, to wit:
