RESOLUTION NO. 991 .........
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COL~CIL OF THE CITY
OF ARROYO GRANDE NAMING TIlE MAJOR LEAGUE AREA
OF THE BASEBALL COMPLEX "D. G. PORTER FIELD"
WHEREAS, it has been established by Resolution No. 735 that the Parks
and Recreation Commission will recommend names for City Parks to the. City
Council for its approval and adoption~ and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission has considered names to
be used for identification of certain park areas in the City of Arroyo Grande
and has recommended that the major league area of the baseball complex be
named "D. G. Porter Field" and be approved and adopted by the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
The major league area of the baseball complex, located at the Elm
Street Park Complex, is hereby officially named D. G. PORTER FIELD, to ac-
knowledge the efform of D. G. Porter, who was instrumental in developing
this majQr league baseball field in the City of Arroyo Grande.
On motion of Councilman Millis, seconded by Councilman Wood and on
the following roll call vote~ to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Millis, Wood, de Leon and Mayor Schlegel
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Talley
the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted this 13th day of June, 1972.
