R 0988 ,.-., - I RESOLUTION NO, ~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MONUMENT BY THE PACIFIC COAST RAILROAD HISTORICAL SOCIETY. WHEREAS, the Pacific Coast Railroad ran from Los Olivos, California to San Luis Obispo, California from 1882 - 1940; and WHEREAS, the Railroad was a major influence on the development of the town and City of Arroyo Grande during those years; and WHEREAS the last known rails lie embedded in Branch Street, (Highway 227), and will be excavated during the reconstruction of Branch Street, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande supports the Pacific Coast Railroad Historical Society in its development of a monument to preserve a section of those rails, as near its present site as possible. On motion of Councilman Wood, seconded by Councilman de Leon and on the following roll call vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Millis, Talley, de Leon, Wood and Mayor Schlegel NOES: None ABSENT: None the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted this 23rd day of May, 1972.
