O 629 ORDINANCE NO. 629 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE AMENDING SECTION 2.08.070 OF THE ARROYO GRANDE MUNICIPAL CODE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPOINT THE CITY CLERK AND CITY TREASURER The City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Purpose and Authority. At the November 2, 2010 General Municipal Election, the City of Arroyo Grande electorate approved Measures C -10 and D -10 changing the offices of City Clerk and City Treasurer from elected to appointed positions. The purpose of this ordinance is to authorize the City Manager to appoint the City Clerk and City Treasurer. This ordinance is adopted pursuant to California Constitution, Article 11, Section 7, Government Code Section 36510, and other applicable law. SECTION 2. Subsection P of Section 2.08.070 of the Arroyo Grande Municipal Code relating to the powers and duties of the City Manager is hereby amended to read as follows: "P. City clerk and city treasurer: pursuant to the authority in Government Code Section 36510, to appoint the city clerk and city treasurer of the City." SECTION 3. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect 30 days after its final adoption. This ordinance shall apply to the City Clerk position upon the expiration of the term of office of Kelly Wetmore, the City Clerk who was appointed on August 21, 2008 as if elected on November 4, 2008. This ordinance shall apply to the City Treasurer position upon the expiration of the term of office of Michelle Mayfield, the City Treasurer who was appointed on August 21, 2008 as if elected to the office on November 4, 2008. SECTION 4. Publication. Within fifteen (15) days after passage of this Ordinance, it shall be published once, together with the names of the Council Members voting thereon, in a newspaper of general circulation within the City.
