RESOLUTION NO. 920
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARROYO GRANDE URGING STATE LEGISLATION TO ENACT
MANDATORY AUTOMOBILE SAFETY FLARE LEGISLATION.
WHEREAS, The United States Congress and the Legislature of the State of
California, in response to the demands of the people for greater highway
safety, have enacted legislation requiring automobile manufacturers to design
and build their vehicles in a manner conducive to the safety of the motoring
public; and
WHEREAS, the City of S~ Leandro has, by resolution dated December 14,
1970, requested the State of California Legislature to propose legislation "-
requiring the presence of safety warning flares in all vehicles on the
streets and highways of the State of California; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande desires to express
its support for such legislation.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande hereby
resolves as follows:
RESOLVED, that this Council urges the Legislature of the State of
California to enact a bill requiring the presence of safety warning flares
in all vehicles, in the interest of increasing highway safety and preserving
life; and be it further
RESOLVED, that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
forward copies of this resolution to all appropriate bodies and to the state
legislators representing San Luis Obispo County.
On motion of Councilman Wood, seconded by Councilman Talley and on the
following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Schlegel, Thompson, Wood, Talley and Mbyor
Levine.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted this 26th day of January, 1971.
