RESOLUTION NO. 791
A RESOLUTION OF' THE CITY COUNCIL OF' THE CITY
OF' ARROYO GRANDE ENDORSING THE COMPLETION OF'
THE STATE OF' CALIFORNIA FREEWAY SYSTEM BETWEEN
SAN ARDO AND SAN LUCAS IN MONTEREY COUNTY.
WHEREAS, that certain 13.4 mile strip from Sdn Ardo to San Lucas
in Monter.y County is the only portion of U. S. Highway 101 which remains
as a ~wo lane section of highway between Healdsburg, California and the
Mexican border; and
WHEREAS, there is a high automobile acciderit rate in this particular
strip of Highway which is of statewide concern; and
WHER&AS, it is vital and essential that this section of U. S. Highway
101 be improved for purposes of alleviating the traffic problem therein
resulting and consequently solving the problem which causes the high in-
cident of accidents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of tha City of Arroyo
Grande that the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grand. supports the
Salinas Valley Highway Advisory Council in its' efforts before the Cal-
ifornia State Highway Commission urging completion of U. S. Highway 101
from San Ardo to San Lucas in Monterey County.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk be directed to transmit copies
of this Resolution to the Salinas Valley Highway Advisory Council, Box
1170, Salinas, California 93901; Vernon J. Cristina, Chairman, California
Highway Commission, Department of Public Works, P.O. Box 1499, Sacramento,
95807 and John Legarra, State Highway Engineer, Department of Public Works,
P. O. Box 1499, Sacramento, 95807.
On motion of Councilman Levine, seconded by Councilwoman Thompson,
and on the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilwoman Thompson, Councilmen Levine, Schlegel, Burt
and Mayor Wood.
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
the foregoing Resolution was. passed and adopted this 8th day of April,1968.
