RESOLUTION NO. 758
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CI'IY OF
ARROYO GRANDE, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING MINIMUM
AND MAXIMUM COMPENSATION IN VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS
OF SAID CI'IY, EFFECTIVE AS OF JULY l, 1967.
THE CI'IY COUNCIL OF THE CI'IY OF ARROYO GRANDE DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION L. WHEREAS, this City Council has caused a wage survey to be
made of the compensation of various employees of the City of Arroyo
Grande; and
WHEREAS, this Council deems it to be to the best interests of the City
of Arroyo Grande and its various employees that minimum and maximum
compensation be fixed for various classifications of employment in the
various departments of the City of Arroyo Grande as hereinafter pro-
vided;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the minimum compensation as of
date of employment and the intermediate and maximum compensations for
such employment shall be as hereinafter set forth and shall be subject
to all of the conditions and reservations hereinafter enumerated, ef-
fective July l, 1967, that the said minimum, intermediate and maximum
compensations are as follows, to wit:

SECTION 2. That the foregoing schedule of compihsations are part of
a considered plan for orderly increases in such compensations based
upon the following rules, conditions and reservations, to wit:
(a) The City Council feels that it is in the best interest of the
City to attract and retain competent employees and to give initiative
and encouragement to such employees.
(b) Each present and/or new employee shall be placed on such step of
the compensation plan as his experience and responsibility shall war-
rant.
(c) Transfer to higher or lower step shall normally occur annually
but shall take place only after a review of the employee's past per-
formance; such review to be conducted by the department head, the
City Administrator and a representative or representatives of the City
Council.
(d) Such review shall include a personal interview with the employee
by one or more of the above named persons and a written statement
covering the interview and the reasons why the proposed action is
taken.
(e) Such review shall occur not more often then every four months
and at least once a year.
(f) A review to increase an employee's compensation in a period less
than one year from the previous increase may be initiated by the em-
ployee, department head, or City Administrator but shall only occur
when there is a special circumstance of meritorious service or in-
creased ability which it is deemed proper to give special recognition.
On motion of Councilman schlegel , seconded by Councilman"
Burt and by the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilwoman Thompson, Councilmen Levine, Schlegel.
Burt and Mayor Wood

ABSENT: None
the foregoing Resolution was adopted this 27th day of June, 1967.
