RESOLUTION NO. 727
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF
ARROYO GRANDE COMMENDING MURIEL PORTER FOR HER
SERVICE TO SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY CITIZENS AND
ITS SENATORS.
The following resolution is now offered and read:
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Arroyo Grande desires, on
behalf of City Officials, City Residents, and past, as well as present,
Council members, to publicly recognize, the outstanding service rendered
by Mrs. Muriel Porter in her capacity of Administrative Secretary to our
last three State Senators; and
WHEREAS, Muriel Porter has occupied the office of Administrative
Secretary for Senator Chris Jesperson, 1932-1951, Senator Alan A.
Erhart, 1951-1960, and Senator Vernon L. Sturgeon, 1960-1966; and
WHEREAS, Muriel Porter, a registered Democrat, has served these
Republican Senators with sincere devotion and devoted effort without
thought of differing political affiliations; and
WHEREAS, Said Muriel Porter has given most diligently of her time
to the maintenance of the best interest of the aforementioned Senators
and their constituents; and
WHEREAS, Said Muriel porter has consistently demonstrated qualities
of devotion to duty, dedication to office, and given unstintingly of her
time in the interests of the people of this City and County and its
Senators, and sincerely desired to promote good government and the gen-
eral prosperity of the City and County and the welfare of its people;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Arroyo Grande, County of San Luis Obispo, State of Cal ifornia, that
Muriel porter be, and she hereby is, commended for her devoted and
outstanding service;
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the evening of January 28, 1967
be designated as "Muriel porter Night" and that a commemoration dinner
be held, so the citzens of San Luis Obispo County may show their
appreciation.
On motion of Councilman Burt, seconded by Councilman Schlegel,
and by the following roll call vote, to wi t:
AYES: Councilwoman Thompson, Councilmen Levine, Schlegel,
Burt, and Mayor Wood.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
the foregoing Resolution was adopted this 27th day of December, 1966.
