RESOLUTION NO. 720
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TH! CITY OF
ARROYO GRANDE SUPPORTING THE LOCATIIJIq OF A PACIFIC
GAS AND ELECTRIC-COMPANY FACILITY IN DIABLO CANYON
IN THE COUNTY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO.
WHEREAS the continued orderly growth, development and prosperity of
the County of San Luis Obispo has a direct effect upon the orderly growth
and prosperity of the City of Arroyo Grande,
AND WHEREAS the proposed Pacific Gas and Electr~c Company facility,
presently being planned and negotiated for between the Marre Land and
Cattle Company and the Pacific Gas and Electric Company, will have strong
economic impact on the County of San Luis Obispo;
AND WHEREAS the proposed Pacific Gas and Electric Company facility
will be a hugh tax boon to the County of San Luis Obispo and will benefit
.all of the residents in the County of San Luis Obispo, including the
residents in the City of Arroyo Grande;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Counqil of the City of
Arroyo ~ande, as follows:
1. That the Pacific Gas and Electric Company facility, which is
presently planned for Diablo Canyon, in the County of San Luis Obispo is
deemed to justify the support of the City of Arroyo Grande and tha
Council hereby goes on record as fully supporting said project;
2. The Board of Supervisors of the County of San Luis Obispo, the
Pacific Gas and Electric Company and the Marre Land and Cattle Company
be encouraged to take whatever steps are necessary and proper, insofar as
they are able, to complete negotiations and commence construction of said
project;
3. The City Clerk is directed to send copies of this resolution to
the Pacific Gas and Electric Company and to the San Luis Obispo County
Board of Supervisors.
On motion of Councilman Levine, seconded by Councilwoman Thompson
and on the following roll call vote, to-wit:
AYES: Councilwoman Tho.pson, Councilmen Levine, Schlegel and
Mayor Wood.
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Burt.
