RESOLUTION NO. 703
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARROYO GRANOE, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING MINIMUM
AND MAXIMUM COMPENSATION IN VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS
OF SAID CITY, EFFECTIVE AS OF JULY I, 1966.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLDWS:
SECT I ON I. WHEREAS, this City Council has caused a wage survey to be made of the
compensation of various employees of the City of Arroyo Grand,; and
WHEREAS, this Council deems It to be to the best Interests of the City of Arroyo
Grande and Its various employees that minimum and maximum compensation be fixed
for various classifications of employment In the various departments of the City
of Arroyo Grande as hereinafter provided;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the minimum compensation as of date of employ-
ment and the Intermediate and maximum compensations for such employment shall be
as hereinafter set forth and shall be subject to all of the conditions and reser-
vations hereinafter enumerated, effective July I, 1966, that the said minimum,
intermediate and maximum compensations are as follows, to-wit:

SECTION 2. That the foregoing schedule of compensations are part of a considered
plan for orderly Increases in such compensations based upon the following rules,
conditions. and reservations, to~wlt:
(a) The City Council feels that It Is in the best Interest of the City to attract
and retain competent employees and to give Initiative and encouragement to such
employees.
(b) Each present and/or new employee shall be placed on such step of the compen~
sat Ion plan as his experience and responsibility shall warrant.
(c) Transfer to higher or lower step shall normally occur annually but shall take
plac. only after a review of the employee's past performance; such review to be
conducted~y the department head, the City Administrator and a representetlve or
representatives of the City Council.
(d) Such review shall Include a personal Interview with the employee by one or
more of the above named persons and a written statement covering the Interview
and the reasons why the proposed action Is taken.
(e) Such review shall occur not more often that every four months end at least
once a year.
(f) A review to Increase an employee's compensation in a period less than one
year from the previous Increase may be Initiated by the employee, depertment head,
or City Administrator but shall only occur when there Is a special circumstance
of meritorious service or Increased ability which it Is deemed proper to give
special recognition.

Mayor Wood
