O 160 C.S. - ~ ORDINANCE NO. 160 C.S. AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE AMENDING THE ARROYO GRANDE MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING CHAPTER 14 TO TITLE 8, BUILDING REGULATIONS, REGARDING WATER SAVING DEVICES. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I: That Chapter 14 is added to Title 8 of the Arroyo Grande Municipal Code, to read as follows: I Section 8-14.01 Requirement of Water Saving Devices. The following standards shall apply to all new construction for which a building pennit Is requIred and to the replacement of plumbing fixtures within existing structures. Remodeling which does not involve replacement of existing plumbing fixtures shall be exempt from the provisions of this section. The manufacturer's name and model number shall be supplied to the Building Department before Installa- tion of the following devices: (a) Water Closets. Water closets designed to use not more than 3.5 gallons of water per flush shall be utilized. Commercial establishments such as gasoline service stations, hotels, motels, restaurants, and other commercial establishments where the general public uses the water closets, shall be exempt from this standards. ,Public and/or Institutional uses such as scholls, hospitals, convalescent homes, jails, or recreation and community buildings shall also be exempt from this standard. (b) Shower Heads. Shower heads designed to deliver not more than 3.5 gallons per minute shall be utilized. (c) Faucets. Lavatory and kitchen sink faucets designed to deliver not more than 3.5 gallons per minute shall be utilized. (d) Urinals and Valves. Urinals and valves designed to use not more than 3 gallons of water per flush shall be utilized. SECTION 2: If at any time within the first twelve (12) months following the passage of this Ordinance, the Chref BuIlding Inspector detennlnes that any of the water-saving fixtures specified for use In this ordinance are generally unavailable from the commercial plumbing suppliers within San Lurs Obispo County, he Is authorized to permit the Installation of regular fixtures, during such time as the water-saving fixtures are unavailable. SECT! ON 3: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty (3D) days after its passage, and within fifteen (15) days after Its passage, It shall be published once, together'with the names of the Council Members voting thereon, In the Five Cities Times-Press-Recorder.
