AN ORD I NANCE OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE AMElIO I NG
CHAPTER 4 OF TITLE 6 OF THE ARROYO GRANDE MUN I C I PAL
CODE ENTITLED GARBAGE AND REFUSE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARROYO GRANDE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: Section 6-4.01 (c) of Title 6, Chapter 4 of the Arroyo Grande
Municipal Code is amended to read as follows:
(c) "Licensee" shall mean and include any person, firm,
corporation, or association, or the agents or employees thereof,
to whom the City shall have granted a franchise under the terms
set forth in this chapter, and under the provisions of the laws I
of the City to collect, transport through the streets, alleys, or
public ways of the City, and dispose of refuse, garbage, wet
garbage, and rubbish produced within the City.
SECTION 2: Section 6-4.05 is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 6-4.05 - Garbage Service Within City i

Every resident or occupant within the City of Arroyo Grande
shall be required to subscribe to garbage service within the City I
of Arroyo Grande. I
SECTION 3: Section 6-4.06 is amended to read as follows: 1

Sec. 6-4.06 - Garbage Service Franchise 1

A franchise for :the collection and disposal of refuse, garbage, i
wet garbage, and rubbish shall be granted by the City of Arroyo ,~
Grande pursuant to Division 3, Article 1 (Section 6001) of the State
of California, Public Utilities Code.

SECTioN 4: Section 6-4.1Ia shall be added to the Arroyo Grande ,
Municipal Code to read as follows:
Sec. 6-4. lla - Billing and Collection by City
The charges set forth in this Chapter shall be collected by
the City of Arroyo Grande and may be collected with the rates for water
furnished by the City. The charges set forth in this Chapter may be
billed upon the same bill for water services and shall become
delinquent ten (10) days after the date of billing. The total amount
due for garbage services and for charges for water and other City
serv ices may be pa i d as a un it, ar,d the City of Arroyo Grande sha \I
be reimbursed its expense for said bi 11 ing by the garbage company.
SECTION 5: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty (30)
days after lts passage, and within fifteen (15) days after its passage it shall
be published once, together with the names of the Council Members voting thereon, ~
in the Five Cities Times-Press-Recorder.
On motion of Councilman Spierling, seconded by Councilman Gallagher and
on the following roll call vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Spierling, Gallagher, Schlegel, Hillis and Mayor de Leon
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted this 11th day of 1977.
